How to stop procrastinating

 Hellos,

It's Friday afternoon and the clock is ticking. You're working furiously to complete a task before the five o'clock deadline, while silently cursing yourself for not starting it sooner.

How did this happen? What went wrong? Why did you lose your focus?

Well, do you see yourself spending hours re-reading emails and constantly checking social media, the excessive "preparation," the endless coffee breaks, and the time spent on other tasks that you could have safely left for next week?

Sounds familiar? If yes, you're not alone!

Procrastination in simple words is the act of delaying or postponing something intentionally. It happens sometimes, that you are mentally too stressed to complete all your tasks or you aren't just in the mood to work. We gotcha! We are here to help, so you always have your tasks done on time or at least never give up on finishing them.

1- Recognize Procrastination

Do you know why we tend to procrastinate? It's because we have either too much workload or you had to re-prioritize.

To avoid the same you can:

# Finish small tasks from your to-do lists that have been there for a long time

# Wait to be in the "right mood," or wait for the "right time" to tackle a task. (prep up yourself for the list of tasks you gotta start in a while)

# Dedicate your focus and time to that particular task whether low or high priority

2- Work Out WHY You're Procrastinating

I mean, there is always a reason for any action. It may take you some time but you will eventually figure out the problem and when you do, you can avoid falling into that trap.

Poor organization can lead to procrastination. Organized people successfully overcome it because they use prioritized To-Do lists and create effective schedules. These tools help you to organize your tasks by priority and deadline.

3- Adopt Anti-Procrastination Strategies

Procrastination is a deeply ingrained pattern of behavior. This means that you probably can't break it overnight. Habits only stop being habits when you avoid practicing them, so try as many of the strategies, below, as possible to give yourself the best possible chance of succeeding.

# Forgive yourself- Like you may have procrastinated in the past, forget about that and get back on track!
# Concentrate- Hocus-Pocus, Let’s Focus! To accomplish a goal you need to work towards it.

So, here’s a poem for you, named “Procrastinate”

Why do I procrastinate?

Investigates detective Nate,

He says you will do great,

If social media is kept away!

The lesser you procrastinate,

The happier you will stay!

And, I guess...we’ll catch you in the next one ;)

Thanks and Regards,
Glamorous Scout!
